About The Williams Company

About Williams Company

Growing up in the construction business, cousins Bruce and Alan Williams knew early on what their career path would be. After earning degrees from University of Florida in Building Construction and Civil Engineering respectively, Bruce and Alan joined Williams Company working in the ranks and learning what it took to manage a thriving business. In the 1980's Bruce and Alan became the third generation of Williams to own and run the business.

Bruce quickly took to the business and realized he favored the internal management, business development, and community involvement side. By 1983, 11 years after joining the company, Bruce was named President and later assumed the role of Chairman/CEO; today he is the Chairman. In addition to his office responsibilities, Bruce continues to carry on his father's legacy of giving back to the community. He has been on the board of many organizations including The Central Florida Red Cross, University of Central Florida Foundation, the Economic Development Commission, Valencia Community College Foundation, and Goodwill Industries.

Alan was always drawn to the operational side of the business and has supervised some of the largest and most complex projects Williams Company has ever constructed. After several years as a project manager, Alan assumed the role of President and today he is the CEO of Williams Company. He is responsible for solving many of the technical challenges, which occur in the field. Just like his father Randall, Alan's focus is on project schedules and quality. He has a consistent and direct working relationship with each project superintendent and all field personnel and thrives on overseeing all field production, quality control, scheduling, and policy.

THE FOURTH GENERATION

Bob Lipscomb

In 2007, Bruce and Alan decided to begin the transition to the fourth generation of ownership by making the Williams Company an ESOP company. All of Williams Company employees own 30% of the Williams Company stock and the plan is to eventually have the entire company owned by the employees.

As part of this change in ownership, Bob Lipscomb was named President of Williams Company in 2007, and his duties include the oversight of all company operations. Bob is also a graduate of the University of Florida and started his career at Williams Company in 1988. Bob's creativity, leadership and organizational skills have been a driving force in Williams Company's growth and success over the past 10 years.

COMPANY HERITAGE

The year was 1920 and the place was a sleepy little citrus town called Orlando. Williams Company founder, J.J. Williams, decided to stake his claim in the construction business. With a focus on keeping clients happy, J.J.'s construction company became a success. After World War II, J.J.'s sons Ralph and Randall came aboard, and the business continued to grow. The importance of client service was passed down from J.J. to his two sons. By the late 50's Williams Development Company, as it was called then, was one of the largest builders in Central Florida. When Disney World opened in the 70's, Central Florida's growth increased exponentially. So too did the growth of Williams Company. Cousins Bruce and Alan entered the thriving company in the 70's and brought with them added energy. The torch had been passed to the third generation of the Williams family, but the values of honesty, integrity, and client service remained the same. Today the company enjoys revenues exceeding $120 million annually with 85% of its work coming from repeat clients. The values J.J. passed down have stood the test of time and the company continues to grow and flourish into the new millennium.
