JJ's Building Futures Foundation Awards $20,000 in Scholarships

JJ’s Building Futures Foundation, an affiliate of Williams Company, awarded two $10,000 scholarships on Friday, May 1st at an awards ceremony held at Edgewater High School. Emily Wigle and Matt Kowalski, both Seniors at Edgewater High School, each received $10,000 which will be paid over four years. The scholarship funds were raised from a charity golf tournament held in 2008 by JJ’s. JJ’s Building Futures Foundation distributed applications to seven Orange County high schools and interviewed seven finalists prior to their selection. Emily will be attending the University of Florida and majoring in Civil Engineering. Matt will be attending the University of Miami and majoring in Civil Engineering.


 


JJ’s Building Futures Foundation is a non-profit organization which was started by a group of employees at Williams Company. Its mission is to encourage young adults to pursue careers in commercial construction. The organization interacts with high school and college students through talks at schools, job site visits, and community volunteer projects.
